Contract: Raithwaite Hall Hotel
Location: Sandsend Whitby
Rig Type: 27tonne excavator mounted CFA, Beretta T46
Pile type: 300mm diameter contiguous fully reinforced in conjunction with ground anchors and soil nails to enable excavation for hotel basement
Anchor type: Steel threadbar double corrosion protected
Soil Nail type: Steel threadbar.
This was a particularly challenging project as we had to work around an existing building installing piles and ground anchors in order for the client to form more space to construct an extension to the building.
A contiguous bored pile wall was installed using our dedicated drill rig and excavations were carried out in stages so that we could install soil nails and ground anchors through waling beams which we constructed on site. The ground anchors were tested and locked off in order for the excavations to be carried out adjacent to the existing building. Where soil nails were installed the loads were simply applied using a torque wrench to enable excavations to be quickly advanced.
